Explosive designs for art performance
September 2009
The world is full of risks to be avoided. Crowds are subversive, disease is rife, strangers are enemies and fireworks are too loud. But some fools deliberately step outside the safety zone, play with fire, light the blue touch paper…
The European premiere of Crackers? comes to Delapre Abbey, Northampton on Saturday 26 September 2009. Presented by The World Famous and leading arts and entertainment venue Royal & Derngate, this Arts Council-sponsored event combines fireworks, projection, performance and music.
Royal & Derngate commissioned The Bridge Group to design a range of collateral, including posters, flyers, banners, bus signage and an email template.
The designs reflect the show’s exploration of attitudes to risk, with strong colours, a firework-effect font and use of performance-based photography.
Emily Clarke, marketing manager at Royal & Derngate, said: “It was great to work with The Bridge Group on the artwork for Crackers? From the concept design work they did, through to the execution of the final artwork, the process went really smoothly and we were able to create something that is having a real impact with audiences".
Kerry James, The Bridge Group’s marketing director, said: “We’re thrilled that Royal & Derngate chose us to deliver designs for such a prestigious, show-stopping event. Our studio thoroughly enjoyed translating the concept into memorable creative output.
“We’re sure the event – previously shown in Sydney and Singapore - will both inspire and challenge the audience, making it a performance to remember.”
